Welcome to the Skip Gates page! Skip Gates's most recent media accomplishment was his scripting of an entire video series for PBS. The series, entitled Wonders of the African World, is six videos long. Gates traveled all over Africa and gave a touristy yet educational representation of Africa. This series has been the subject of enormous controversy since its airing on PBS in October of 1999. 

Two other notable video series have been made on Africa. One is by Ali Mazrui and is called The Africans: A Triple Heritage. The other is by British Historian Basil Davidson and is called Africa: A Voyage of Discovery with Basil Davidson. This site was designed with two goals: to inform people of the information Skip Gates presented in his video series, and to clear up the controversy surrounding all three video series.
