Father Divine and the Depression
In 1932, Father Divine moved to Harlem and bought hotels which he called The Peace Mission Heavens.
To his followers he gave cheap food, shelter, a job, and a reformed life.
These hotels, still in existence today, require that men and women stay on separate floor, even if they are married.
