Hansonia L. Caldwell, author and music instructor,
received a bachelor’s degree in musicology from Boston University, and a
doctorate in musicology from the University of Southern California. She is
founder and director of the Dominiquez Hills Jubilee Choir and the Jubilee
Creative Art Summer Camp. Caldwell is a member of the Los Angeles
Philharmonic Educational and Community Advisory Committees, and has served
as the vice president of the board of directors of the Philharmonic
Association. She is a member of Links, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha, where
she has served as conductor of the Western Regional Chorus. Her published
works include, African American Music, a Chronology: 1619-1995, and
Educator’s Resource Manual. Her works have also been featured in American
Society of University Composers Proceedings, and The Black
Perspective in Music.
